This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on bmsbuilding.uk, the website of BMS BUILDING & GROUNDWORKS LTD, what each one does, and how to change your choices. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information more generally.
What these technologies are
A cookie is a small file stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage and tracking scripts, which do comparable things. We use the word cookies below to cover all of them.
Your choices
When you first arrive we ask whether you are happy for us to use analytics. Only the essential category is used unless you turn Analytics on. Nothing is switched on for you, and refusing costs you nothing: the site works the same either way.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Turning Analytics off stops those cookies being used and removes the ones set on this website. We ask you again after 6 months, and straight away whenever we change the tools we use.
The categories
Essential. Needed for the site to work and to keep it secure: the security check on the enquiry form, protection against attacks, and remembering the choices you make here. These cannot be switched off, and none of them is used to track you.
Analytics. Off unless you turn it on. Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, counts the pages people visit, where they arrive from and where they leave. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, including clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can see where the site is hard to use. What you type into the enquiry form is masked before Clarity sees it. Both send information about your visit to Google and Microsoft.
We have no marketing or advertising cookies.

The display options are stored because you asked for them by changing a setting, and the cookie choice is stored because you made it, so neither needs your consent. They are still listed here, because everything is.

Google Tag Manager itself sets no cookie. It is the tool that loads Google Analytics, and neither it nor Microsoft Clarity is loaded at all until you turn Analytics on.
Microsoft also has advertising cookies (MUID, MR, SM and ANONCHK) that Clarity can use on other websites. We tell Clarity that advertising storage is refused, so they should not be set by this site. If you find one, please tell us.

Turning Analytics off on this site deletes the Google and Clarity cookies set on bmsbuilding.uk. CLID sits on Microsoft's own domain, so only your browser can delete it.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may stop parts of this or any other website working properly.
Changes to this page
We review this page whenever we add or remove a tool, and at least once a year. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
